Die First generation Dodge Viper RT/10 is a moving homage to the raw power of the 90s. Developed by Chrysler with the collaboration of Carroll Shelby, the Viper is deliberately based on the purist roadsters of the 60s — with a clear focus on performance rather than comfort.
At the heart is the 8.0-liter V10 engine, originally co-developed by Lamborghini, which delivers 400 hp and 630 Nm of torque. That sounds like numbers — but in reality it is a brute experience. No ABS, no ESP, no traction control. The Gen 1 viper is a real muscleman without electronic safety nets.
Minimalism is also popular in other respects: The first models came without side windows, without external door handles — and even the soft top was more of a makeshift than weather protection. But that is exactly what makes it so special: The RT/10 is raw, loud, untamed — a real driver's car that is now one of the US icons of the 90s.
Whether as a collector's item, track toy or garage hero — the Gen 1 Viper remains a statement. Unreasonable? Absolutely. And that's exactly why we love them.
