Relevance of SUVs in the classic market

Vehicles such as the G-Class, but also the Land Rover Defender, Range Rover or Toyota Landcruiser were the beginning of a market movement that is unparalleled in the automotive world. The conquest of the SUV in the normal vehicle segment has now been ongoing for the last 30 years. In 2021, 46% of all new registrations worldwide were SUVs, with ever increasing sales figures. In addition, there were the so-called performance SUVs, which have virtually replaced the power station wagon and are experiencing insane hype, especially among the younger generation. These include G63, Lamborghini Urus and Audi RS Q8, but just about every manufacturer now takes part in this segment. Porsche's classic department has also now included the Cayenne and has recognized that collectors are also beginning to appreciate this segment. The G36 is an absolute first mover in this segment and can count itself as one of the grandfathers of the performance SUV market. The historical relevance is therefore given. However, the quantity of just 120 copies ensures that there is virtually no supply on the market and therefore prices are extremely stable with a sharp upward trend. As a reference: The Lamborghini LM002 was sold more than twice as often, namely 301 times! The best conditions for an investment vehicle.

Here you can see that offer prices have risen rapidly from 2024. However, due to the slight crisis and lower purchasing power in the market, not all of these prices have yet been achieved. Still a good perspective, especially for the Hyper rare short version.
